Oops.

I guess i have a thing for neglecting blogs. I'll try not to do that anymore. I was without internet for 2 months and got a LOT of reading done! (Almost made it to my goal of 25/yr, so i increased it to 35.) Here's what i've read so far. A lot of it was fluff just because they were quick easy reads. I've also read parts of the Bible, but i didn't write all of them down, at least i don't think i did. I'll have to check.

Here's the list so far:

1. Romeo & Juliet - Shakespeare
2. Sizzling Sixteen - Janet Evanovich
3. Lean Mean Thirteen - Janet Evanovich
4. Conquer the Night - Shannon Drake
5. Only Mine - Elizabeth Lowell
6. Tuck Everlasting - Natalie Babbitt
7. Enchanted - Elizabeth Lowell
8. Only You - Elizabeth Lowell
9. Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen
10. Highland Captive - Hannah Howell
11. The Love-Artist - Jane Alison
12. Highland Knight - Hannah Howell
13. Highland Bride - Hannah Howell
14. The Secret - Julie Garwood
15. The Perfect Seduction - Margo Maguire
16. The Highlander's Bride - Michele Sinclair
17. Knight Triumphant - Shannon Drake
18. The Gift - Julie Garwood
19. Untamed - Elizabeth Lowell
20. Forbidden - Elizabeth Lowell
21. The Viking's Woman - Heather Graham
22. Highland Wolf - Hannah Howell

1/5/11

So i just started Romeo & Juliet by Shakespeare tonight. I needed a break from Confessions. I'm still going to finish that one though. It is beautifully written. I think i'm going to make myself a mini Shakespeare challenge...to read 5 works of Shakespeare this year. I've gotten some good suggestions. I've already read Midsummer Night's Dream (my favorite!), Macbeth, Hamlet & Julius Caesar in the past, so i'm going to try and only read ones i haven't read before, but i can't promise anything. ;)

Book 1

I found this great site for reading books online! It should hold me over until i can get my books and a library card! The site is http://www.readprint.com/ .

I just started The Confessions of Saint Augustine.

Bible Reading Plan

Along with 25 novels/plays etc., i also plan on reading through the Bible this year. So far this year i have read:

Matthew 1-13

I'm planning to continue reading through Matthew while switching to a chronological reading plan. Here is the plan i wan using. I'm also going to read the Proverb chapter that corresponds with the day of the month that it is and a few chapters of Psalms a day.

The Well Educated Mind

I saw this on a friends reading blog, and thought it was a nice idea, so i'm going to borrow it! I'll need to get The Well Educated Mind from the library and read through it (will count that as one of my books), but i've found their list of books through a search until i can get a library card to read the book. There are 5 genres as listed in The Well-Educated Mind: fiction, autobiography, history/politics, drama, and poetry. I'm going to pick 2 books from each category to read this year, although i may read more.

Fiction:
The Scarlet Letter- Nathaniel Hawthorne (1850)
One Hundred Years of Solitude- Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1967)

Autobiography:
The Life of Saint Teresa of Avila by Herself- Teresa of Avila (1588)
Surprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life- C.S. Lewis (1955)

History/Politics:
Utopia- Sire Thomas More (1516)
A MidwifeΚΌs Tale: The Life of Martha Ballard, Based on Her Diary- Laura Thatcher Ulrich (1990)

Drama:
Medea- Euripides (c. 431 B.C.)
Saint Joan- George Bernard Shaw (1924)

Poetry:
The Epic of Gilgamesh (c. 2000 B.C.)
The Iliad and the Odyssey- Homer (c. 800 B.C.)

2011 Book Challenge!

I've decided to do another book challenge this year. With so much going on last year i didn't come close to my goal of 50 books for the year, so this year my goal is going to be set at 25 books for the year and anything over is a bonus! I'm getting a slow start this year though because since i just moved, all of my books are at my grandparents house 5+ hours away until we can get them later in the month.
